Welcome to Birmingham! I'm Lis Hernandez, your local bilingual REALTOR® and neighbor. This guide is designed to help you settle in easily and feel at home from day one. Here you'll find essential information, local tips, and community details that aren't found on Google.

Birmingham is a vibrant city with a youthful spirit and a median age of 34. Our Hispanic community, which represents nearly 5% of the population, enriches our culture. Diversity shines through in our food, festivals, and neighborhoods. Come and discover the traditions that make Birmingham a special place.

BHAM, Magic City, Iron City When someone says “Birmingham,” they could be talking about two different things, and it’s worth understanding: 👉 Birmingham (the city) located in Jefferson County, AL with about 200,000 residents. 👉 or the Birmingham Metropolitan Area, which includes several neighboring counties and cities such as Hoover, Homewood, Vestavia Hills, Irondale, Alabaster, and Pelham, with a total population of over 1.1 million. So if someone says “I live in Birmingham,” they could live in Trussville, work downtown, and shop in Hoover. Everything is connected—and that’s also a charm! But you know what, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own—that’s what I’m here for. Your local expert is on call, ready to chat over coffee. ☕ Give me a call and we’ll figure it out together!
